Sunday Setlists…7/1/12

This post is part of what is going on over at The Worship Community…specifically with the weekly posts of setlists done in churches all over the world. You can check out the submissions for this past weekend here. For purposes of this post, it involves what occurred at the North Campus of The Woods Church.

Here we go…

1. God is With Us Now…by Gateway Worship in A

I welcomed everyone and set up our July 4th video…here is a link to the video we used…

Next our service host, Christen, came up and worked through the announcements and a turn and greet time…

2. We Are the Free…by Matt Redman in A

3. Your Love Never Fails…by Jesus Culture in A

Lerrin, our campus pastor came up to set up the offering time…

4. Great I Am…by Jared Anderson in C

5. Forever Reign…by Hillsong in C

6. I Want to Know You…by Jesus Culture in C

We had a time of ministry and prayer, handled by Lerrin as well…

Then our series bumper video was played and Lerrin introduced the speaker for the morning. It was our youth pastor from the South Campus, Matt Ciaramitaro.

This past week was a seemed to really fly by! We decided to completely redesign our stage and give it a fresh look. So with the help of a couple volunteers I stripped it all down on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday were spent making the changes and constructing pieces to go on the stage. Here are some shots of the change…

This is a shot from Easter 2012… This is the beginning of our tear down… Measuring, cutting, and predrilling… Constructing..and painting… Side angle of the finished product… View from the booth on Sunday morning…

I found a design of imitation truss on Church Stage Design Ideas…we decided to give it a try and it worked out great! In the end we constructed four 5 foot truss for right at $200. That includes the PVC, screws, spray paint…and the cleaner and adhesive that we bought, but didn’t use. We added some insulation panels to the back wall, that our South Campus had previously used and were going to store away…I was very pleased with how things turned out and with the money that we didn’t have to spend to make it look good! I had numerous people comment on the stage and how they liked the change.

The service went great. We were actually introducing the first tune and the band did a great job! The congregation was very involved in the worship time, especially during our second set. I could really sense God’s presence during our ministry/prayer time and it was evident that God was speaking to people, long before the teaching began. Matt’s message focused in on how we should fear God and not man…with some great real life situations where we all fear men. The congregation was really dialed in to what he was sharing.

(Side note…I hope to have a link or links up soon for the messages and worship sets…)

So there you have it…

Sunday Setlists…6/24/12

This post is part of what is going on over at the worship community…specifically with the weekly posts of setlists done in churches all over world. you can check the submissions for this past weekend here. For The Woods, it was another morning to celebrate. For the McKanna family it was a special weekend, as our new church family officially welcomed us.

But back to the logistics of the service right?!

Our service and setlist at The Woods North Campus went as follows…

1. Tell The World…by Hillsong United in A

Then I gave a quick welcome with a turn and greet time. Pastor Lerrin came up for announcements and offering set up…

2. Counting on God…by New Life Worship in B

3. Let God Arise…by Chris Tomlin in B

Next was our new sermon series bumper…followed by our week 1 message by Pastor Lerrin on how not to stay stuck. He closed up the message by setting up a ministry and response time.

4. Sweetly Broken…by Jeremy Riddle in B

5. Marvelous Light…by Charlie Hall in B

6. Victorious…by Gateway Worship in B

I closed out the service encouraging everyone to go out and live victoriously in the week ahead…but to not leave too soon because there was a cookout/party after the service.

The service itself started out a little slow, if you know what I mean. It’s summer time in Michigan and people up here enjoy the weather when they can. Sometimes that means people tend to take their time coming into the service itself. This week was one of those weeks. But by the time we were taking the offering, the people had filed in.

I tried a more abrupt ending to Counting on God, as opposed to the more acapella ending that slows down. I also asked the drummer to hit the roll and start Let God Arise, right away. This was a little tricky because we were using a click track Counting on God, but not for Let God Arise. He pulled it off perfectly! The energy was definitely there by the time we got to the message. I’m even thinking it was just too much energy to then bring back down right away…but who knows.

Pastor Lerrin did a great job of keeping people engaged and spoke on a very relevant issue for everyone. His message was entitled, Going No Where and the passage that he used was John 21. He set up the ministry time of allowing God to break us free and get us out of being stuck. I played acoustic behind him to set up Sweetly Broken. It was our first week for this tune, which is undoubtedly my favorite to lead, and the band picked it up great! The final three song set went very smooth. Again we used a click track for the final song, but my drummer got that started quickly and I spoke briefly just to break up any dead space.

I would love input on using click tracks and how to keep from having dead space if they are used back to back…! Right now I set up each click track as its own playlist on an iPod classic. Our drummer has to manually start each one. I’m still getting used to using them and how to set them up for smooth transitions…

The welcome party was AMAZING! The church brought in a bounce house and an ice cream cart, in addition to the grilling that was going on. It was great to see about 80% of our congregation stick around and take part in the welcome. I’m not sure which the kids enjoyed more, the bounce house or the ice cream cart. I was all over the Choco Taco, so there was no questioning my favorite. Afterwards as I was driving home, I was overwhelmed at the kindness and generosity of so many people. From the simple kind words and introductions to welcome cards and even gift cards for our family. We are more than blessed!

So there you have it…

it was a very busy weekend, with rehearsing both for palm sunday and easter sunday…saturday night. (i am still working back in ohio and due to prior commitments couldn’t get up to michigan until saturday…) but the band and tech team came prepared and we worked through everything in three hours time. the run through and service on sunday both went great!

i was doubling as a barista on sunday morning which i enjoyed…it was tough for me not to drink more bean than i was making though! i was also excited to have several family members come up for the first time…kasey’s mom and dad, my mom and grandma…all packed in the mini van with kasey and the kids.

what is impacting me most so far, is the love that the people of the woods have for me and my family, and especially my children. everyone greets you with a smile and could not be more welcoming. molly and cooper are already making new friends and settling in quite well. little izzy even made us all some cookies to eat on our trip home.

speaking of the trip home…i have to say that the 2 1/2 hour drive back each sunday is not so fun…especially when the lawn needs mowed as soon as you arrive! but i’m thankful for being a part of what God is doing in and through the woods and i’m excited to see what He is going to do in and through the mckanna family as we join in this adventure!

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…is BACK!

sunday setlist…2010…take six…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness which is now being hosted over at the worship community…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

this past weekend was our PALM SUNDAY weekend…i was  in the LIVE services at lima community church…and God is continuing to work in the lives of people!!!

i kicked things off by reading psalm 66:1-2…it was a challenge that God had given me to praise Him for WHO He is…not just for all of the things that He does…and i asked the congregation to greet others and share WHO God was to them this week…

1. here is our King…by david crowder band

2. marvelous light…by charlie hall

then our host for the services came up and intro’d the video announcements and set up the offering time…

3. everlasting God…by lincoln brewster

4. sweetly broken…by jeremy riddle

5. arms open wide…by hillsong united

there was a roll-in video to the message given by our discipleship pastor, mike huckins…

6. arms open wide…a shortened reprise

then we had a time of prayer and announcement for our new off-site video venue…the first service for that venue will be on EASTER sunday…

__________________________________________________________________

this past weekend was pretty CRAZY…limacc hosted a community wide palm sunday service, on sunday evening…this meant having a very large set of risers on stage…sound equipment was being used to the max and had to be reconfigured for what we would need during our services…but it was all worth the extra work in the end!!!

the band was prepared and things really seemed to flow well during the services…i have to say that i never cease to be amazed at how God works out the setlists in advance…and then pulls them together with the message, even when i have NO CLUE what it’s going to be like…and this was just one of those weekends!!!

i challenged the musicians on sunday morning with psalm 66:1-2…the challenge was to take 5 minutes and simply right out WHO God is…nothing to do with what He does for us, simply WHO He is…it was awesome to hear the pens writing away and to see how fast the 5 minutes went by…then i tried to incorporate that at the beginning of the services…i just couldn’t really take the time to do it justice in the services…

then as we did the songs…it was great to see all kinds of things pop in my head about WHO God is…sooo many lyrics that just played right into the idea…it was cool to go back and talk about what everyone had written and even to hear how God was revealing more and more things to each of us…

if you want to view any of the weekend services of limacc, go check out our livestream page

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…2010…take six…

sunday setlists…2010…twin oaks style…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness which is now being hosted over at the worship community…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

i was  in ferrum, va this past weekend visiting my friends at twin oaks…this church REALLY knows how to worship and has been a blessing to me in the past…this weekend was no exception!!!

the services started out with a time of welcome and prayer…this was followed up by prayer for the offering…

1. reign in us…by starfield

then the pastor, terry covey (a mentor and GREAT friend of mine), gave his message from joshua 5…it was entitled, “the battle is the Lord’s”…it was very challenging for me…he opened up some things and put them in a light that i had not looked at them with before…(i will most likely share more about this later in the week)…

2. mighty to save…by hillsong united

3. Jesus paid it all…by kristian stanfill

4. Jesus Messiah…by chris tomlin

then terry came back and shared about the battles that needed to be handed over to God so He could bring healing that was needed…people were encouraged to come forward and pray…

5. Healer…by hillsong united

then there was another time of prayer and ministry…

6. revelation song…as performed by kari jobe (lead by amy)

__________________________________________________________________

sooo, it was a ROADTRIP weekend for the mckanna family…we were down in ferrum, va for a wedding on saturday and to then hang out with our friends at twin oaks…this was my third visit to the church, that i can remember, and every time i am blown away at their spirit and their PASSION to worship God!!!

twin oaks is a “small” country church…their weekend attendance is around 300 people…which is between a 6th and 7th of the size of limacc, where i am usually leading worship…but when i consider where the church is, it’s AMAZING to see what God is doing there and how He is at work…it was a 30 minute drive to the nearest motel…NO JOKE!!!

not only that, we DIDN’T have an electric guitar, let a lone a lead…we didn’t use a click…we didn’t have any fancy lighting…yet God is working and moving and changing the lives of people…(insert sarcastic…NO…)

the service was great…actually both services were great…but the second service especially…when we were ready to start men were hauling in chairs from some other part of the church…there weren’t enough seats for the bodies that were coming in…if they have fire codes in the middle of no where…we were breaking them!?! (i did see a sign that said “no open fires until after 4pm?!?)…i was blown away by what i was seeing…then we actually got going…by the time we got to revelation song, i’m pretty sure the roof was raised a little no SERIOUSLY these people were singing like we had already made it to heaven and this was the REAL THING!!!

i absolutely love being a part of what God is doing…regardless of where it’s at…regardless of the “style” or size of the church…God is still God and people were worshiping Him with everything they had…AWESOME!!!

it was just what i needed!!!

so there you have it…

sunday setlists…2010…twin oaks style…
